Welcome to home-shelving. when searching the internet for a qualified carpenter
and joiner that can make your home-shelving it is a good idea to view their
previous completed works. When you have to choose the right tradesmen for work to be carried out on your home-shelving in my opinion it is best to find someone that just makes a particular
style of home-shelving, a style of shelf you like of course, in which case you will
probably find that those home-shelving suppliers are bigger companies then the
tradesmen that make your home-shelving to your design. Where we are is in the
middle, companies that are too small or too big miss the point that you want a supplier/installer that has enough experience to do
the work but not too big that your just a number. We are keen to have your custom.

The service from home-shelving will always be consistent with your expectations we
will visit and compile a plan/drawing of your shelving/alcove unit requirements and then send an email or post confirmation of your
plan/drawing along with a quote for your consideration/approval and after changes and or confirmation has been made we will collect
a small deposit and begin off-site manufacture of your shelves/alcove unit to your specification, and then come and fit all in one
day. At all times we will be ensuring that your wishes and even last minute points to be mindful of are taken on board.
Our home-shelving can be a good use of space and Our home-shelving offer a great looking alternative to that shadow created by the old
bookcase that some of us dislike, The modern looking shadow less fully fitted shelves comes in many finishes you can have any
finish/colour or sheen you require.
It is always best to have a clear idea of what shelves/alcove units it is that your after. Always try to have a drawing of the
type of shelves/alcove unit in mind. This helps when dealing with any minor alterations to your design. Other shelving/alcove unit
manufacturers may have different ideas for. home-shelving. Different designs exist
and if help is needed don’t hesitate to inquire.
Deposits for making home-shelving are normal and common practice. My recommendation
is to have the deposit paid using a cheque or bank transfer although we do find discounts are available on occasions when dealing
with cash this is ok with small sums of money, but this approach can be difficult if you pay too much too soon.
We make and fit shelves/alcove units in different wood finishes. These include oak, birch, walnut, and other hardwoods, stained mdf
and painted finishes the painted finishes are either rollered, sprayed or lacquered. A survey maybe necessary in which case we will
make some drawings and if you would like to go ahead we take a small deposit and we then pre make every thing followed by the
installation at your convenience. This is our normal procedure.
Our practice when making home-shelving in our manufacturing unit is to have a small
deposit to begin with and a sketch followed by the manufacturing and installation. Often the installation is completed in just one
day, followed by the rest of the money on completion. We don’t give credit because that would result in us having to raise our
prices to cover the administration of chasing monies delayed, and increased cash flow requirements.
Other considerations include weather or not your paying too much for your home-shelving. This is always grounds for concern. If once we had purchased our
shelves/alcove units, we found it much cheaper somewhere else, it would make us feel bad. The money saved could have paid for
something else important, that now has to wait. In my experience first as a carpenter and joiner and now running a small
manufacturing unit, is that price depends on so many factors. It is true to say a penny saved is a penny earned, but similarly if
you pay peanuts you might get monkeys. It is not always a good thing to pay more in the hope to get a better service. What we all
want is a fair job done for a fair price paid.
We strive when designing and making our home-shelving to give the best value for
money. When talking to my customers I have found that they appreciate it when I mention to them that doing it that way or this way
will cost more money because it impacts on time in the manufacturing of their home-shelving. I then follow through with an alternative approach that achieves
similar results without the associated costs.
Cheap shelves are available. Cheap does not mean lacking in function or quality. It means to us take what ever measures are
required to reduce the cost of manufacturing to a point where the customer says “I'm happy”. This is sometimes the objective.
Another issue when choosing the right company or tradesmen to make your home-shelving is the quality of workmanship. The quality of the finish and the quality
of service. Our mission statement is to bring about the desired result and desired experience for every customer however unique
that customer may be. With our in house manufacturing and spray booth we are able to check the quality at every stage of
development right through to the installation of your shelves/alcove unit or home-shelving other suppliers may have different ideas.
How do you make home-shelving or more to the point how would we make your home-shelving? What we do is make a higher quality shelf. First we determine what you
want. Followed by a stream lined manufacturing process, that produces a high quality finish, and a strong shelf/alcove unit. We may
use either ply, mdf, or oak!
What areas do we work in? The locations we cover are: but we are in no way restricted to just these areas, and look to cover more
areas and locations all the time. Islington, Woodside Park, Manor House, St. Paul's, Central London, Chessington,
guaranteedcustomers.co.uk, ,and Romford, and surrounding areas. What we would do is get your basic construction put together on
paper and give a ball park figure on prices. If this falls within your budget, then we would come and visit, get the exacting
description and requirements of your home-shelving. This would be followed by our
all inclusive final quote.
We do visits, for jobs that are normally within an hour of my unit address. I wait until I have a few visits to make and then try
and see everybody in one day. If you would rather not wait, then special visits can be made at certain times. For special visits I
just ask for expense money of £40 which you get back off the price.
You may avoid the need for delay for a visit by taking your own measurements. I need the left to right measurement
of your shelves. I also need the distance from the front of the shelf back to the wall.also the height and whether or not it is
close or touching the ceiling? Finally the finish? You could have light wood, dark wood, painted mdf or painted strong ply. The
measurements could be taken using either metric or imperial. If your really unsure, just read both measurements on the tape measure
i.e the metric and imperial and relay both measurements for the same length. e.g.
Left to right measurement could be 1200mm(metric or 48"inches imperial.
the front to back of the shelf measurement could be 600mm or 24" (inches)
If you have drawers to be built, please state if they are to be fitted behind one or two doors. just give the height and width
of the drawer unit and the size of the proposed handles. So as to enable enough space for the handles, which the doors have to
close in front of.
I will look forward to your further interest and investigation into the kind of service and shelves/alcove units you may want. We
are flexible and always mindful of keeping costs down. So feel free to make an obligation free inquiry and I wish you all the
best.
If you are considering other services that come recommended such as home-shelving,&home-cabinets, these come
highly recommended.
Yours truly, Mark Barry B.Sc. (Hons) ACIOB and Co.
